Consists of correspondence, typescripts of fiction and articles by Ober, and miscellaneous personal papers. Most of the material dates from Ober's tenure as society editor of the newspaper New York World. Letters received include courtesy notes from interviewees such as Katharine Mackay, Nelson Wheatcroft, Johanna Gadski, and Nellie Melba. Also includes a calling card from Ralph Pulitzer. Miscellaneous papers include two passports and a 1923 passenger list for the steamship America. In addition, there are three pencil sketches, two of a man on horseback, labelled "San Luis Obispo," the first of which is signed by D[rr.] Page; and one of men in battle, unsigned but annotated. With these are genealogical papers pertaining to Ober's family, chiefly letters to Joseph W. Robb, 1860-1870. Most deal with his businesses in Rochester, New York City, and Warsaw, Indiana. One letter from his brother is written from the Montgomery House in San Francisco in 1862 prior to his sailing on the ship, Neptune's Car.

Ober was a New York City journalist who worked as the society editor for the newspaper New York World, 1890s-1931. She also contributed to the Sunday World Magazine, the Herald, and Harper's Bazaar. She was a president and charter member of the new York Newspaper Women's Club and a chairman of New York's Town Hall Club.
